In Isaiah’s time these words were precious to his hearers – they spoke of God’s act of deliverance – that’s what “gospel” is – the word that frees and brings to life that which is dead! We read Isaiah 51 in light of the death and resurrection of Jesus and we marvel in the grace of God.
