Reader’s Guide: “The Word for Today” Friday, May 10, 2013 Read – Exodus 34:29-35 In the story of the Transfiguration Luke tells us that the appearance of Jesus’ face changed and his clothes became dazzling white. Only Luke mentions that the face of Jesus was changed. In our reading today we are reminded of how Moses’ face began to shine with a light that made it difficult for those he was leading to look upon. I have suggested that Luke wants us to be remembering the Transfiguration of Jesus and all that goes along with it as we contemplate the ascension of Jesus. Our reading for today helps us make one more connection within the Bible and helps us see how the first followers of Jesus both used and were shaped by the OT story.
