Reader’s Guide: “The Word for Today” Friday, March 1, 2013 Lamentations 5 Today, we have one last chance to let the passionate words of a lamenter wash over our lives before we return to Luke’s story. When we left Luke we left with the lamenting words of Jesus ringing in our ears. Hopefully spending some time listening to these words of lament in the OT book of Lamentations has helped us to deepen the passion of Jesus for the people of Jerusalem and the passion of God for all people. As a hen seeks to gather her chicks under her wings, so Jesus seeks to gather the people of Jerusalem under his wings. As a hen seeks to gather her chicks under her wings, so God seeks to gather all people under his wings. The wonder of such a God and such people is amazing. As we see ourselves in this story we come to know the depth of God’s grace and love.
