Reader’s Guide: “The Word for Today” Saturday, June 8, 2013 Read – Psalm 77 I’m not sure why, but Psalm 77 has become a favorite of mine. At first glance the words of Psalm 77 seem like the complaining of an unfaithful person. As I have meditated upon them I have come to the conclusion that they are the words of a person of very deep faith – a faith we can admire. Though all seems to point in the opposite direction the psalmist still remains adamant in faith. This faith grows only when the psalmist reflects upon the mighty acts of God in the past. It is these acts that give hope in a hopeless present. During those moments when we feel desperate and alone and wonder if God is real, this psalmist takes us by the hand and leads us to a new place of faith. We can be thankful for the psalmist’s deep insight into the perils of life – and the journey to a deeper faith.
